Olive wood vessels redefine the modern dining table
Apr 07, 2025
Many people use porcelain bowls at home, but they are easy to break when accidentally dropped on the floor, so we have created three unique wooden utensils inspired by olive wood, Large Olive Wood Bowl, Large Wooden Bowl with Lid and Small Wooden Serving Bowls.
When the sunlight passes through the parabolic grain of the olive wood, casting a flowing light and shadow on the tabletop, this ritual of gastronomy has a soul. Our original 32cm Mediterranean-inspired olive wood bowl, carved from a single burl, has a naturally occurring concave structure that makes it the perfect vessel for a nut platter. The matching arched beech lid is steam-bent to keep the grains crisp when closed, and serves as a storage tray for the nutshells when open.
The cluster of 8cm mini bowls in the three-piece set has a subtle design philosophy: the six bowl rims are bevelled at different angles, so that when they are arranged in a starburst shape around the main bowl, the gaps in the rims of the bowls naturally form a pathway for the ingredients to the central container. This 'satellite table system' revolutionises the sense of spatial compartmentalisation caused by traditional sharing of meals, making the process of sharing a meal interactive and fun.'
To prolong its life, we recommend regularly rubbing the surface with olive oil to maintain the wood's lustre and resilience. Every grain is a testament to age and every use is a dialogue with nature.
Most people are so overloaded and fast-paced these days that they lack the time to talk to their friends and family, but at the dining table we can have a peaceful time to sit down and have a long conversation. Enjoy these precious but brief moments at the table with our wooden bowls made of olive wood.
